ON THE OUTSIDE, THERE ISN'T REALLY ANYTHING "WRONG" WITH THE HARROW FAMILY. : maybe they're a little different, but who isn't? you come across all kinds of folk in small, rural towns. if anything, even with their quirks, the harrows are definitively NORMAL. they own and operate THE HOWLING HOUND, a BBQ joint with three stars on Yelp! and one best eatery award from the 90's. they go camping, attend local events, and drive all-american made trucks. they live the dollhouse dream of a father, a mother, two girls, two boys, and a dog. and if you like only looking at the outside, that's all there is to know.BUT IF YOU PEEL BACK A LAYER, YOU DISCOVER THOMAS HARROW. thomas harrow was due to go to college a few years later than the average student on a football scholarship. he was known for winning at least three local scratch-off lotteries. he collected four-leaf clovers. he was an incredibly lucky young man. and one day, a month before he was slated to leave for school, thomas harrow was found dead, hanging from a tree in the forest behind his home, with a strange symbol carved into his left palm. the harrows don't like to talk about this. for all intents and purposes, it's better to act like thomas harrow never existed. so that's what the harrows do.PARIS ELIZABETH IS TECHNICALLY, NOW, THE ELDEST HARROW CHILD. still, if you ask her, she's the second eldest. even though she takes thomas' job flipping burgers at the howling hound, even though she inherits the truck he used to do donuts in, she's still the second eldest. and still, there's one thing that keeps paris distinct from her brother: ——— after he dies, she becomes an incredibly unlucky young woman. she runs over nails mere hours after getting her tires repaired. she drops her cell phone on pavement despite it being wedged deep in her pocket. she can't get a gig to play at a single open mic night. and she can't help but feel like it has something to do with thomas' death.SO, THERE ISN'T TECHNICALLY ANYTHING "WRONG" WITH THE HARROW FAMILY. . . but there's definitely something wrong with paris. she begins to feel it, the dark cloud over her moving closer and closer. the less-then-ideal occurances in her life go from merely popping a tire to almost getting hit by a semi crossing the street. whatever or whoever it is that killed thomas... well, she becomes convinced that it's trying to kill her too, one sidewalk-crack at a time. it's stalking its way down the bloodline, coming for her next. all the town can do is shake their heads and send up a prayer for poor, bad luck paris. and all the harrows can do is turn their heads and will it away.( ONE NIGHT, AS HIS FAMILY SLEEPS, FATHER GARY HARROW VENTURES DEEP INTO THE WOODS WITH A SERMON. it is a teaching from a false god, from a figment of his imagination. he leaves behind countless failed get-rich-quick schemes. an entire binder of losing lottery tickets. a lifetime of not good luck, not bad luck, but... regular, small-town luck. and he decides that if he ever wants to succeed, he has to kill his eldest son. then and only then will he be granted the winning streak that has evidently skipped a generation from his own father, to thomas. and in sealing his son's fate, he curses his daughter's. )one day, paris harrow decides that if she ever wants to succeed, she has to escape champaign, ohio. she has to chase her dreams elsehwere. SHE HAS TO OUTRUN THE CURSE HERSELF.

paris elizabeth harrow lives in a small, rural, and slightly off town within the champaign county of ohio. an aspiring musician, she's dropped out of college following the sudden death of her older brother and taken up guitar full-time to aid in the grieving process. when not trying desperately to find a place to play, they can usually be found fry-cooking at their family's local BBQ restaurant, THE HOWLING HOUND. as the rest of her family and the town that surrounds them moves on from the tragedy, paris begins to experience intense bad luck spells.

02 : WHEN YOU WAKE UP, I'LL BE GONE AGAIN.

paris' horrific luck worsens, going from minor inconveniences to repeated near-death experiences. as a result of this, they begin to wonder if whatever force that killed their brother is now attempting to kill them. when it becomes clear to her that she'll never escape whatever cursed that's been placed on her if she stays in her hometown, paris runs away from ohio with only her brother's old truck and the family dog, gunning for LA. she takes on a variety of odd jobs, most often finding work in restaurant kitchens, and plans to reinvent herself along the way.

03 : I KNOW A PLACE.

after ending up in LA, paris meets exes lauren watts and andie king, the duo behind up and coming alt-pop band "SILK", at a house party. they invite her to join as their guitarist, and the trio is swept up into the chaos of fame as their first album (written about lauren and andie's brekaup) establishes them in the dark pop scene. dumbfounded by the newfound attention she's getting, paris indulges in the high life, earning herself the markings of a questionable reputation. her naivete, inexperience, and lingering effects of the curse land her in frequent hot water and an abusive relationship with lifestyle influencer whitney cosima.

04 : I'M SO NAVY BLUE.

after much deliberation, SILK breaks their contract with their original record label and joins Alley Cat, a space for burgeoning queer artists to shine. paris reels from the fallout of their relationship with whitney, intermittently going back to her until lauren and andie put a stop to it. the band releases their second record, which catapults them into mainstream success after a single from it goes viral midway into their headlining tour, extending them into a second leg. with the help of their team, paris attempts to clean up her image and fight unfair tabloid portrayals of herself as her fame grows.

05 : WHAT IS LOVE SUPPOSED TO FEEL LIKE ANYWAY?

now prominent figures in the music world, SILK works on releasing their third album centered around themes of grappling with fame. paris finds herself growing more comfortable with songwriting and manages to turn a new leaf in the public eye, reversing her old "playboy" image. however, long-lingering tensions between andie and lauren plague the happiness of their third headlining tour. just when paris doesn't think things can get any worse, news breaks that her father has been arrested back home for the murder of her brother. SILK agrees to go on an indefinite hiatus, leaving each other on a sour note.

with SILK on hiatus and her family in shambles, paris retreats out of the public eye, working behind the scenes in the industry playing for other stars to avoid media coverage. eventually, she makes the decision to go home and face her past when her father's trial rolls around. she finally tells lauren and andie the truth about the curse and reunites with her mother and younger siblings, hoping to put an end to the curse as tommy harrow is put to rest once and for all.

after coming back together to support paris following her father's trial, the SILK trio decides to reunite musically, taking further time out of the spotlight to work on and eventually release a bombastic comeback single that marks the start of their fourth album cycle. bigger and better than ever, this era is defined as their most self-assured and mature as they celebrate their bond. paris learns to adjust with life without her bad luck impairing her every move, now left to deal with the extreme anxiety it has given her.

paris harrow is the second of four children born to cattle farmers in district 10. a hard worker used to slaughtering the animals for the family business, they become the eldest of their family line after losing their brother, tommy, as he’s killed in the 66th games. ever unlucky, she is reaped herself two years later and goes through a shocking transformation from an antisocial, grief ridden young woman to a charismatic, showstopping performer with help from her stylists and mentors. scores a 7 on individual assessment with a cleaver and brute strength as her weapons of choice. wins her games by making short-lived alliances and eventually managing to partially tame and sic a muttation on another tribute. after winning, she goes on to be prostituted as a capitol elite favorite and mentor future tributes, eventually learning that her father forged tesserae documents in tommy’s name to achieve wealth.
